Over the next 3 years, Jonna worked hard, learning the trade, making contacts and expanding her knowledge of fine jewelry. In 1990, Jonna realized that she wanted more than to just work in someone else's jewelry store: she wanted her own shop. Starting with just $10,000 (this covered everything: inventory, showcases and rent) Jonna began with a small stall in a local flea market, working Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Over a 2 year period, Jonna developed such a large clientele that she basically outgrew her flea market space.

In 1992, Jonna opened her first shop, a small 300 square foot location, where she did quite well, and developed an even larger, loyal clientele. Her warm and enthusiastic personality along with her down-home country charm helped create some lasting professional relationships with both clients and vendors. But more on that later....

During this time, Jonna worked Monday through Thursday at her shop and continued working Friday through Sunday at the flea market. Talk about ambition!!!

After 2 years, Jonna had outgrown her small shop and so in 1994, she moved to a larger place, over twice as big. In her new 750 square foot shop, Jonna's business quickly grew and grew. By 1997, things were going so well that she moved again; this time, to a 3,000 square foot location. By now she had 4 employees and was bringing in over $300K in sales, as well as nearly $200K in custom work. About the same time, Jonna realized she needed more space and so she opened a second location, with over 2,800 square feet of space.
