The History of Cathy's Tantrum

Cathy Croft had a lifelong dream to own her own retail business, though
she had never even worked in retail. In Cathy's past lives, she worked in
the manufacturing of oil and gas products industry, as well as the medical
and legal fields. "THE TANTRUM" had been little more than a fleeting, serendipitous idea that Cathy had one morning, an idea that she immediately discounted as ludicrous.

As time went by, the idea kept coming back to her and she began to realize
that maybe the idea WASN'T so ludicrous. She began to think seriously of how
to set the wheels in motion.

Cathy had developed a great love and appreciation for the beautiful hand-painted batik and silk clothing she had discovered on a trip to Hawaii. On subsequent trips over the next few years, she brought more and more of this unique clothing back, each time literally filling her suitcases.

On one lucky trip, Cathy happened to meet and become friends with a family that owned a clothing manufacturing facility in Bali. The family had wanted to open a retail store in the Houston area and over the next three years kept in touch with Cathy, frequently asking her what a good retail location would be. Cathy repeatedly told them that Rice Village would be an ideal spot for a store which would carry such unique and special clothing.

During those three years, Cathy was still thinking about her own business and when the family failed to act upon Cathy's suggestion of a shop in Rice Village, Cathy saw an opportunity, and took the initiative to suggest that SHE HERSELF open a retail store. She asked the family to grant her exclusive distribution rights to their clothing and much to Cathy's surprise, they said YES! "Cathy's Tantrum" was born!

The rest, as they say, is history. "Cathy's Tantrum" has been wowing customers for over 2 years now and Cathy's reputation for unique, one-of-a-kind clothing is growing by leaps and bounds. Cathy and her shop have been featured guests on the Debra Duncan Show, and she has been written about by Barbara Karkabi in the R and R section of The Houston Chronicle. Also, Cathy has hosted numerous style shows throughout the Houston area, featuring her distinctive and special style. More media events and high profile appearances are planned for the future!
